It’s tomato time! Come celebrate summer’s shining star in all its glorious forms. Taste test your way through a table of farm-fresh heirlooms- savoring their subtle nuances; cheer on your favorite local restaurant in the Bloody Mary Showdown or vie for the title of Sauce Boss in our Market Marinara contest! Josh Palmer of Sette Luna will serve as our guest chef for the day – dishing up some fabulous olde world Italian delights showcasing the hallowed tomato.
Stop by the the Penn State Master Gardeners Heirloom Tomato tent for some great growing tips and visit with our resident tomato guru, Master Gardener Joe Judge. And when it comes to Easton Farmers’ Market vendors scrumptious tomato dishes will abound – from the famous Fried Green Tomatoes at Sycamore Grille to Wood Fired Pizza Switchback Pizza Company.
And don’t forget to tee up for some tomato mini golf or check out the kids’ craft area for some tomato fun! Other activities include live music featuring George Baier and artist Ian Summers. Ian returns to complete his Faces of Easton mural!
Market Marina Contest Rules Categories: Home Cook and Professional
All contestants must provide at least 2 quarts of sauce (cold). If your sauce is extra chunky please provide 3 quarts. Sauce must be delivered to Centre Square by 9:15 am or pre-delivered to the EFM office (35 S. Third Street on Friday August 22nd by 5:00pm). Fresh Finds- Market Excursions
Join local food writer, blogger, cook and baker Carrie Havranek and discover some of the market’s best kept secrets. Learn some new and innovative ways to cook your favorite veggies and other farm market favorites and some get some interesting culinary tips and tricks. Excursions begin at 6:30 pm with a short talk and then a stroll through the market.
