Fun at the Farmers’ Market!
Think your child won’t enjoy coming to the Farmers’ Market? Think again! Children do enjoy being at the market – and our farmers are happy to see them, too! Use these 5 tips to make shopping at the Easton Farmers’ Market even more fun by teaching your kids about where their food comes from.

Smart Shopping with Kids in the Kitchen
Your kids can learn to love new foods – and have fun doing it – by getting them involved in family meal planning! Build balanced meals together that include lean proteins, whole grains, and fruits & veggies. Then make a shopping list to take to the Easton Farmers’ Market to buy the ingredients together.
Let your child take the lead with gathering the items so they can practice communicating with our farmers who love to answer questions about their products. You may even give your child anywhere from two to five dollars to spend on their own at the Market. You may be surprised with what they come back with! Kids are more likely to eat foods that they picked out themselves, and this exercise is a great way to teach children about the value of money.
Bring your Market-haul back home for their help making some fun and easy recipes like these from Cooking Matters and MyPlate Kitchen.

Plan a Picnic
Eating healthier is easier when you do it together! Enjoy the beautiful scenic views from our riverfront location at Scott Park during our main Farmers’ Market season starting in May. Bring a blanket, or choose to relax at one of our bistro sets, with lunch from any one of our restaurant & cafe vendors offering made-to-order meals!
After, we have plenty of open grass areas for the family to have fun with our cornhole games, giant jenga, or rock out to our musical guests/DJ.

Tasting the Rainbow
Eating different colors can help the whole family’s bodies and brains! Red, blue, and purple fruits and veggies can boost your memory. Green ones give you strong bones and teeth. Orange and yellow ones keep your eyes sharp and help you fight off colds! Challenge your children to see if they can find a fruit or veggie that matches each color of the rainbow! Check out this helpful Tasting the Rainbow worksheet in English and Spanish.

Art Adventure
Turn the Easton Farmers’ Market into your own personal artists’ canvas! Collect stickers at our Info Booths to put into a Market scrapbook. Explore the art of street painting, also called Chalk Art, to create an artistic image on the streets of our Market with chalk available at select Info Booths. Encourage your child to also become “Produce Paparazzi” by giving them a smartphone or camera to take different photo ideas and share with us at #EFMProducePaparazzi.

Pop-Up Play
Occasionally during special market days, the Easton Farmers’ Market hosts fun events for kids, including an interactive hide-and-seek game with prizes! But don’t worry you can provide good-time market games for your children no matter the day or season. Check out these fun Cooking Matters activity sheets for kids to complete during the Market. Feel free to ask vendors if they are willing to provide kids a taste test sample of a product to complete the games.
