Dear market friends,
Given the triple whammy of today’s snow, followed by frigid temps and the subzero wind chills predicted for Saturday morning, we’ve decided to cancel the winter market for January 20th. What many folks don’t realize is that we begin setting up the Winter Market at 8:00 am, and many of our vendors hit the road by 7:00 am (or earlier). As you know, road conditions tend to be at their worst at that time. And in addition to the safety concerns, there’s the issue of frozen produce. Once the temps dip below 20 degrees it becomes challenging to keep the fruits and veggies from freezing while at market. [Many of you may remember the frozen apple saga from 2021.] Not to mention trying to harvest from frozen, snow covered fields. So we’ll err on the side of caution this time, and look forward to next week’s thaw, and to seeing you on 1/27 for Squash Fest.
For all of you with Winter Warriors cards, 1/20 will count as a freebie.
Be well and stay warm and safe!
