This Saturday is all about the hotties as Easton’s infamous Hot Pepper Showdown returns for its 15th year on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. Hot peppers with more Scoville units than the typical human knows how to comprehend. Those who’ve chosen to participate this year, however, are not your typical humans. These are 20 pain-loving beings that thrive in mind and body-altering conditions for a crowd. Will we see hometown hero, Raj Muddu aka “Easton Capsaicin” from Tandoor Grille, claim the pepper-power victory? Be there to watch the “capsaicin chaos” unfold at 11 am on stage and keep some pepper facts in your back pocket because we’re dishing out trivia questions for prizes. And bring an umbrella, folks…we’re planning to chase the rain away with some pure, unadulterated pepper heat!
The secret to the showdown’s heat? All peppers are locally grown by Easton Garden Works grower Mark Reid, ensuring that each pepper packs a fresh, farm-to-mouth punch. Mark recently took to TV to educate the masse on making hot sauce and growing hot peppers on the local news station, WFMZ – Allentown! Check out Mark’s Fermented Hot Sauce from the Sunrise Chef or watch at Mark Reid on WFMZ.
