Market Day Perfection

Market Day Perfection

Market days are the best days! It helps when they are perfectly sunny and the temperature is just right, like this Saturday!

I recently saw a quick reel (curse social media and it’s ability to shrink our attention span) that said “my relationship to the farmers’ market is not casual” with an array of well-shot, alluring farmers market finds. While a little silly and superficial, it actually touches on what makes the market a place of connection: it becomes a ritual for many of us. It’s not just a place to casually “buy food.” It’s a place to connect with the people that grow and make your food and hear their stories directly from them about what they do and how they do it. [Cabbage Throw Farm’s weekly newsletter does a great job of this! Alison makes reading about potatoes so much more than just reading about potatoes.]

At the market, you learn new things, try new things, meet new people, and engage in a critical part of our food system. A food system that keeps small farmers and business owners in operation and weaves together important community threads, with avenues to engage in music, arts, and culture. It’s a celebration of place and the way it can taste fabulous.
