DESCRIPTION:There is no hot pepper eating contest this year\, but Chile Pepper Day at EFM is still HOT-HOT-HOT!  Peppers are in their prime in mid-September and there are an amazing number of sweet and hot varieties available from EFM vendors.  Popular in Central America for thousands of years\, peppers are now a favorite of many local chefs and home cooks.  Just ask EFM’s produce farmers about how different varieties can add flavor and often a bit of a kick to recipes.  There will be hot sauce for sale too at Scholl Orchards and at Fraktured Hot Sauce by Goshenhoppen Run – from seed-to-sauce – award winning sauces:  2020 Scovie Awards – 2nd Place and 2019 NYC Hot Sauce Expo – Screaming MiMi Awards – Silver Medal.

Admission is FREE this year in celebration of the Market’s 270th Birthday. Car building and test drives takes place from 4:00 – 5:15 pm and racing begins at 5:30 pm. We provide the zucchini\, wheels & axels\, and all the supplies. The Zuke 500 pit crew will be on hand to assist with car building. And NASCAR’s Peter Brohl will be on site to officiate the race. So get ready to squash the competition! \nThe West Ward Market is located on N. 12th Street in Easton\, between Paxinosa Elementary School and Cottingham Stadium. \nAdults can enter the adults-only race after the kid races are completed. Don’t forget to visit the Zucchini 500 photo station where you can snap a pic of your friends or family in a zucchini car!
