Mid July is such a beautiful and exciting time at the market. The fruit scene really gets folks jazzed up. Just-picked cherries, sweet blueberries, plump peaches, sugar plums, black and red raspberries, currants and cantaloupe all create a rainbow of delicious color. And if you’re feeling penned up – now’s the perfect time to bake a homemade fruit pie! Tomatoes are starting to come on strong in all shapes and sizes, along with zukes and cukes, eggplant, green beans, and peppers. And sweet corn isn’t far behind. Savor the season and take joy in the the gifts of Mother Nature. A lot of the normal pleasures of summer are missing this year, but thankfully the sun is still shining, the rain is still falling, and our farmers are still growing wonderful food and gorgeous flowers for all of us to enjoy.
