Our friends at Buy Fresh Buy Local Greater Lehigh Valley just published their July newsletter with timely tips on how to enjoy fresh and local backyard grilling. July is National Grilling and Picnic month and there are lots of ways to enjoy the foods that you find here at the Easton Farmers’ Market and at other farmers’ markets in the Lehigh Valley Area.
EFM vendors, Jesse and Matt of Primordia Farms, share their tips about grilling mushrooms in the newsletter. They like large shitakes on the grill, however, trumpet and portabellos also make for good grilling. These mushroom varieties are the best for grilling because of their responsiveness to marinades and their meatier texture and flavor. Stop by the Primordia tent at EFM and select your favorite mushrooms for the grill.
Of course, what would a barbecue be without pasture-raised beef, pork and chicken options – at EFM you can find these delicious meats at Apple Ridge Farm and at Breakaway Farms. And produce abounds in the summer, so stop by Cabbage Throw Farm, Comeback Orchards, Phillips Farms, Salvaterra’s Gardens and Scholl Orchards for delicious vegetables and fruits that are great on the grill!
Go to BFBLGV’s website to learn more about them and check out their partners offering fresh and local food in the Lehigh Valley.
