Easton Farmers’ Market Rings In Its 267th Birthday with Free Cake!
America’s oldest continuous open-air farmers’ market is throwing a birthday party so big we need two giant cakes just to feed our guests! We won’t try to squeeze 250+ candles onto the cake, but we will serve up free slices at the EFM Info Tent while supplies last. Join Mayor Sal Panto Jr., Representative Bob Freeman and Easton’s Town Crier, David Rose, in singing Happy Birthday at 10 a.m., before the cake is served. Cake is generously provided by Tomblers Bakery and The Modern Crumb.
While you’re there, check out a collection of historic photos of the market, provided by the Sigal Museum. Earl the Accordionist will be strolling through the market from 9-10 a.m. and the Twin River Rounders will perform from 10 a.m. to noon in the Music Tent.
Families with little ones can visit with Balloons the Clown (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and track down the market’s mascot, Sunny, who will be handing out free gifts at 9:30 am. Kids can also stop by the Power of Produce (POP Club) tent to design a page of the market’s birthday book. Participants who write or draw their favorite thing about the market will receive two dollars in POP bucks to shop for their favorite fruits and veggies.
Guest vendors for the birthday celebration include Owowcow Creamery and Weyerbacher Brewing. The market will also serve as host for Northampton County’s Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program voucher distribution from 9 a.m. to noon … and, Easton Compost Buckets will be available at the EFM Info Tent while supplies last – no charge for Easton City residents | $20 for people residing outside the city limits.
